Best Free Mother's Day Gift

May 5, 2016

You are rushing around, just realized Mother’s Day is this Sunday right? Yeah, even though I am a mother, I still always am surprised when my husband gets me something because I immediately think of the mother’s and grandmother’s in our family, not me.  So there have been many times we are headed somewhere and I think “Shoot! Forgot such and such a gift.”

You are reading this because you are one of those, a last minuter. Yeap, that’s me. Oh I know that Mother’s Day has been coming up for about a month- did I do anything about it? This year, yes! Many years before….not so much. So now that I have been a mother for almost 5 years now, I thought I would give you a little secret insight.

So here is the super awesome, free, last minute mother’s day gift! Are you ready for it?

Your appreciation.

That’s it. I don’t care if it is a gift for your grandmother, mother, stepmother, sister in law, daughter, whomever you are wanting to celebrate mother’s day

Mother’s often feel under appreciated, we feel like no one notices all the work we do. I don’t care if you are a full time homemaker, or a mom who works full time out of the home. A lot of the things that we do, are taken for granted for because everyone knows that mom will do it. We often feel lonely, and even sad at times because of all the unnoticed work we do. I know many mom's who are wonderful mom's, and in their own minds think that they are barely holding on. They are the one's who do everything, stretch themselves to thin, but have a smile on their face while doing it.

I’m not trying to sound like poor pitiful mom, but it is true. Us moms do a lot of work inside and outside of the home. We are the ones who bandage knees, stay up late to help you with homework or just to make sure your favorite shirt is washed for tomorrows school. Some of us work outside the home on top of it all.  It’s hard work being a mom, very hard work. It’s work that doesn’t pay in anything but love. It’s work that keeps us up at night worrying, and awake early in the mornings to cook breakfast.

So for Mother’s Day, if you forgot to get a gift it’s okay. Tell your mom how thankful  you are for her. Clean her dishes, or mop the floors. Do something to help her out. If you are feeling extra spunky, let her go out by herself to go do something for herself.  Let her take a bubble bath, or just sleep in. Presents don’t have to be expensive or extravagant. I can also promise you that she will love your appreciation much more then anything that can be bought in stores! So this mother’s day, don’t waste your money on something super expensive. But a cheap card and make the woman supper (bonus points for cleaning up afterwards too).

  1. I totally agree with you! For me, the best gift for Mother's Day would be a clean house, control of the TV, and some time for relaxation. I would cry tears of joy lol :)
